On March 19 the world will celebrate National Corn Dog Day. Join Fletcher’s Original Corny Dogs at a pop-up at Knox Street’s Pop-Up located at 3311 Knox St. – just steps away from The Katy Trail – on Saturday, March 19 from 11:00 AM to 4:00 PM. Fletcher’s will be onsite with their 22’ mobile kitchen selling Corny Dogs Funnel Cakes and Lemonade. Amber Fletcher is the granddaughter of Corny Dog inventor Neil Fletcher and will be onsite from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM to meet customers. Amber is the third generation of Fletcher family members carrying on the family legacy to spread the love of corny dogs across the nation!
We have brothers Neil & Carl Fletcher to thank for the meal-on-a-stick which was invented right here in Dallas, Texas. A corn dog consists of a high-quality hot dog on a stick hand-dipped into Fletcher’s proprietary cornmeal batter and deep fried until it’s golden brown. After several years of trial and error they debuted their creation at their food booth at the 1942 State Fair of Texas and have perfected what millions of fans know today as a “Corny Dog.” Each year over 500,000 Fletcher’s Original Corny Dogs are sold at the State Fair of Texas. That’s 60,000 pounds of hot dogs! For 80 years Fletcher’s has been a family-owned and operated business. They are proud of their family legacy and are excited to continue to introduce new generations of fans to their Corny Dogs.
