Ditch the standard ketchup for a new savvy dressing by Not Ketchup. The company’s founder Erika Kerekes encourages fans to dip differently, and so we did! In addition to being the founder of Not Ketchup, Erika is a well known food blogger in the Los Angeles area. Erika was in Texas on a media tour, so she and I had tea and talked food for quite some time. While the bags were sitting on the table, with the bright logo, several waitresses stopped by and asked questions. And, when you get two food nerds together of course there was Instagramming.

hey look, that’s me!

These sauces are low in sodium compared to regular ketchup and are perfect to add on burgers, chicken, steaks, ribs, sausages and fries. Every bottle of Not Ketchup is made with real ingredients, such as ripe fruit, fresh onions, pure apple cider vinegar and natural sweeteners (and no white sugar!). I mean why should tomatoes get to corner the dipping market?

The first night we tried the Cherry Chipotle Not Ketchup dipping sauce on Sausage with a side of squash. That was Rory’s favorite!

A few nights later we had Blueberry White Pepper on seared scallops. I loved that dish! Sadly, it was not even a little bit pretty. We made a basic white fish, topped with scallops that we brushed in the Bluberry White Pepper Not Ketchup with a side of something that was apparently not memorable. I’ve also tried a spicy sausage with Spiced Fig Not Ketchup, my taste buds were on overload! Although the combos are endless, there are several recipe suggestions on NotKetchup.com. I’m personally looking forward to trying Smoky Date Not Ketchup with Turkey Burgers and Sweet Potato Fries dipped in Spiced Fig!

The unique flavors in each of the sauces gave us an opportunity to try new combinations that we never would have thought to put together on our own. Rory is quite the experimenter in the kitchen generally, but who would have thought that blueberries and white pepper would be friends?

Each bottle sells for $9 online and sampler packs are available too (a great idea for holiday parties). They also sell them at Central Market. But fair warning, I hear the Dallas locations keep selling out of the Cherry Chipotle.

Grab one of these zesty flavors to add to your next meal.

If you want to know the ingredients in each here they are:

  • Cherry Chipotle Not Ketchup: Cherry Puree (Water, Dried Cherry), Demerara Sugar, Apple Cider Vinegar, Dates, Honey, Red Onion, Natural Color (Paprika, Caramel Color, Glycerin), Salt, Natural Flavors, Spices, Xanthan Gum
  • Blueberry White Pepper Not Ketchup: Blueberry Puree (Water, Dehydrated Blueberries), Demerara Sugar, Apple Cider Vinegar, Dates, Honey, Onion, Salt, Natural Flavors, Spices, Xanthan Gum
  • Smoky Date Not Ketchup: Date Puree (Water, Date Paste), Demerara Sugar, Apple Cider Vinegar, Honey, Onion, Salt, Spices, Natural Flavors, Xanthan Gum
  • Spiced Fig Not Ketchup: This is the company’s newest flavor! The Spiced Fig is made with plump, ripe Mission figs and aromatic spices like cinnamon, anise and black pepper. It goes well on a burger, steak, pork tenderloin or sweet potato fries.

Thanks to Erika for sharing the vision, and yummy samples, of Not Ketchup with us!
