Red Gold

You probably don’t immediately think of grilling when it comes to tomatoes. But Red Gold is hoping to change that! Before the summer grilling season comes to an end, Red Gold is inviting you to try its second annual Summer Grillin’ Party recipes that include Red Gold tomatoes mixed in or atop the new RG Griller Burger Recipes. We received a sample kit that included their Diced Tomatoes with Green Chilies; Diced Tomatoes with Basil, Garlic and Oregano; and Diced Tomatoes with Lime Juice and Cilantro, and recipes featuring their tomatoes like the Italian Turkey Burger and Stuffed Portobello Burger. On a particularly mosquito-filled evening, we opted to use our indoor grill to try both the Italian Turkey and Goat Cheese Stuffed Mushroom burgers.

Both recipes were extremely easy to prepare, with only a few ingredients needed along with a can of Red Gold tomatoes. My favorite of the two was the Goat Cheese Stuffed Portobello Burger which includes shallots, onion, garlic, yellow bell pepper, Red Gold Diced Tomatoes with Green Chilies and goat cheese. The stuffing for the mushroom burger was so easy to make and really flavorful, and the brioche rolls we used soaked up all the juicy goodness. We actually had quite a bit of the stuffing left over, so we enjoyed it with some grilled veggies on the side.

The Italian Turkey Burger was only ground turkey, a can of Red Gold Diced Tomatoes with Basil, Garlic & Oregano, egg and breadcrumbs. I loved the Italian-flavored tomatoes in this recipe. They could be used as a good base for a quick spaghetti sauce that you could dress up to your liking. We added a little provolone cheese on top, and liked how light and juicy the burger was because of the tomatoes. The burger could be dressed up with a thick marinara sauce on top, some fresh basil and any of your favorite Italian cheeses.
