Trigger, a therapy Lab, started putting bright smiles on hospitalized children in 2009. To this very day, he has inspired the mission of one organization to alleviate the emotional and financial stresses of the young and sick. Bryan Townsend is the leader behind the non-profit Trigger’s Toys, but gives all the praise to those who donate and give their time. Through the generous gifts Trigger’s Toys collects throughout the year, 100% of the proceeds go to help the little ones and the parents and doctors they rely on. Toys, beds, medical equipment and even entire room renovations are all possible thanks to such events as the Trigger’s Toys Cocktails for a Cause Pop-Up event that will take place at Henry’s Majestic on December 13, 2015.

On November 16th at Industry Alley Bar on S. Lamar, I attended the fantasy bar draft that showcased 120+ bartenders from all around the USA that will give their time and skills to create delicious cocktails to thirsty event goers.

To date, Trigger’s Toys has raised $79,000 in 2015 by partnering with 33 brands of topshelf liquor and spirits from all over the world. They set a goal of $150,000 this year, and with your generosity they can exceed it! A rambunctious group of 120+ bartenders hailing from Dallas, Austin, Houston, L.A. and many other regions of the country congrated in the large pool hall at Industry Alley to hear the touching words from Bryan. He then kicked off the draft, where the 5 captains were announced. Each captain was given the opportunity to draw 3 names out of a hat, constructing their fantasy team until each and every name was chosen.

Once teams were solidified, celebrity bar backs were chosen along with a sponsor pack and a theme. The sponsor pack consists of 5 high end sponsor liquors in which each team will construct their cocktails that will be available at the event at Henry’s Majestic. Themes were also chosen by the captains and they range from Yacht Club to a Wild Card in which that team has free reign on what theme they want to incorporate in their pop-up bar. Teams will be given until the main event to construct a pop up bar that plays to their new theme. Teams then dispersed and put a name to their theme and whipped up a few cocktails with their newly acquired liquor packs. If these are any indication of what is in store, you do not want to miss this event!
