Established by Hutchins Sr. in 1978, Hutchins BBQ in McKinney, TX is now under the watchful eye of the new generation, son Tim Hutchins and life-long friend Dustin Blackwell. Buddies since third grade and now co-owners, the pair have been hanging around the restaurant their whole lives, literally. They can tell some funny stories about Pit Masters beating up on them as little kids, how the restaurant caught fire and customers that could eat the food right out of the house.

The two proprietors take their roles very seriously, and remain true to the techniques established by patriarch Roy Hutchins, keeping the menu simple, focused and improving only where needed.

With great barbecue in high demand, the duo quickly expanded out of McKinney and into neighboring Frisco. Their second location at 9225 Preston Rd, Frisco is the hub of their catering operation and go-to spot for residents wanting the best barbecue in town, at lunch and now dinner.

Can’t decide between burnt ends, sliced brisket, smoked turkey, ribs or sausage? Simple; Hutchins BBQ offers an All You Can Eat option for just under $20 a person. If that’s not enough, complimentary desserts like Banana Pudding and seasonal cobblers await.

It’s this food writer’s opinion that Hutchins BBQ in both McKinney and Frisco are the best Dallas has to offer, and I challenge anyone to say otherwise.  A smoke ring never lies.

P.S. It’s BYOB too!
