Vodka. Alamo Drafthouse. Local businesses. These are a few of my favorite things and getting to know Ironroot Republic Distillery and try some of their signature cocktails was a reminder why I love these three things so much.
Co-founders and brothers Jonathan and Robert Likarish (pronounced like “licorice”) take pride in their work, learning their methods from some of the best and most experienced distillers in the nation before founding Ironroot Republic. A play on the popular farm to table concept, Ironroot Republic focuses on a grain to glass concept with 90% of the ingredients growing within a 60 mile radius of the distillery located in Denison, Texas.
This particular event showcased three new premium brands offered by Ironroot Republic: Blue Norther Vodka, Carpenter’s Bluff Moonshine and Texas Drought Gin. These three products were mixed expertly into four signature cocktails – my personal favorite was the Denison Donkey (a clever, delicious take on the classic Moscow Mule) featuring their Blue Norther Vodka. The crowd pleaser was the Mexican Martini, a fantastic combination of Carpenter’s Bluff Moonshine, orange liqueur, margarita mix, lime juice, Sprite and topped off with Jalapeno Stuffed Olives. Other signature cocktails include The Iron Word featuring Carpenter’s Bluff Moonshine and the Martinez featuring their Texas Drought Gin. The good news: these delicious cocktails are within reach! Alamo Drafthouse in Richardson now proudly serves Ironroot Republic, you can order any of their signature cocktails or order your standard drink but make sure to ask for Ironroot! Visit the Ironroot Republic website to schedule a tour of the dilistery or visit their in-house bar on Friday or Saturday nights! You can also grab a few bottles to keep at your own bar…I know I’ll be stocking up on some of that Blue Norther Vodka.
