Inaugural Park & Palate Event Features Renowned Texas Chefs, Cooking Demonstrations

On Friday, September 25th and Saturday, September 26th, Klyde Warren Park will host its inaugural Park & Palate fundraising event featuring live cooking demonstrations from beloved chefs from across the country and wine and spirit tastings. Demonstrations will be held during the Grand Tasting event on Saturday from noon to 5:00 p.m. and will feature Chef Jason Dady of Jason Dady Restaurant Group; Chef Tiffany Derry of Tiffany Derry Concepts; Chef Kent Rathbun of Abacus and Jasper’s; renowned chef, restaurateur, and author Jonathan Waxman; and frequent Food Network guest and judge on “Chopped,” Chef Amanda Freitag.  

“We have such a strong lineup of some of the most beloved and exciting chefs from across the country for Park & Palate this year, and we are thrilled to have these fantastic chefs participating in the cooking demonstrations at the event,” said Erika White, vice president of events and programs at Klyde Warren Park. “We couldn’t think of a better way to celebrate the dynamic culinary scene that will aid in giving back to the park.”

Throughout the day, each chefs will conduct 45-minute demonstrations of recipes that showcase their skill and style of cuisine, and participate in a Q&A sessions with guests. Below is a schedule for the chef demonstrations:

  • Chef Jason Dady of Jason Dady Restaurant Group from 12:15 to 1:00 p.m.
  • Chef Tiffany Derry of Tiffany Derry Concepts from 1:15 to 2:00 p.m.
  • Chef Kent Rathbun of Abacus and Jasper’s from 2:15 to 3:00 p.m.
  • Chef Jonathan Waxman from 3:15 to 4:00 p.m.
  • Chef Amanda Freitag from 4:15 to 5:00 p.m.

In addition to the cooking demonstrations, the event will feature more than 30 regional and local chefs and 30 wineries, along with featured tastings of spirits, craft cocktails and beers, plus book signings. Additional chefs scheduled to make an appearance include: Anastacia Quinones of Kitchen LTO; Andrea Meyer of Bisous Bisous Pâtisserie; Andrea Shackelford of Harvest; Andrew Wisehart of Contigo and Gardner; Becky Masson of Fluff Bake Bar; Brian Luscher of Luscher’s Red Hots; Danyele McPherson of Remedy; Dennis Kelley and Melody Bishop of Lark on the Park; Diego Galicia and Rico Torres of Mixtli Progressive Mexican Culinaria; Graham Dodds of Hibiscus; Jeramie Robison of Shinsei; Jodi Elliott of Bribery Bakery; Joel Harrington of Bolsa; John Coleman and Joe Scigliano of Savor Gastropub; Julie Vorce of Pink Apron Pastry; Julio Peraza of Proof & Pantry and Madrina; Matt Orth of Lark on the Park; Meaders Ozarow (owner) of Empire Baking Company; Michael Martensen of Proof & Pantry and Madrina; Omar Flores of Casa Rubia; Paula Lambert of Mozzarrella Company; renowned pastry chef Philip Speer; Rich Rogers of Scardello Artisan Cheese; Richard Blankenship of CBD Provisions; Ronnie Killen of Killen’s BBQ; Sarah Snow of The Grape; Stefan Bowers of Feast; Stephen Rogers and Allison Yoder of Gemma; Timothy Rattray of The Granary ‘Cue & Brew; and more.

The two-day celebration of wine and food held will celebrate the best of Texas’s culinary scene while raising funds for the Woodall Rodgers Park Foundation, the 501(c)(3) that operates Klyde Warren Park. The park offers a wide variety of programming and events year-round that are free and open to the public. More than 2 million Dallas residents and visitors have enjoyed programs ranging from fitness classes and kids activities to cultural experiences, which include opera simulcasts and symphony concerts.

The event will be limited to guests 21 years and up, but Klyde Warren Park will offer free family-friendly programming on the East Lawn to stay in line with their mission of providing entertainment for everyone in Dallas.

Tickets for Park & Palate can be purchased at www.ParkAndPalate.org, and start at $150 for the Grand Tasting on Saturday and vary in pricing for each day. Park & Palate will offer a limited number of tickets for an exclusive VIP experience, which includes a VIP lounge in Savor Gastropub with food by Jonathan Waxman and Gemma, wine seminars, mixology demonstrations, plus prime viewing of the main stage.

Park & Palate will take place at Klyde Warren Park, located at 2012 Woodall Rodgers Freeway in Dallas, Texas.
