Coconut’s Fish Café brings the aloha spirit, fresh fish and healthy dining options to Plano. They opened their first shop in Maui, Hawaii and have been slowly expanding to other states such as Arizona, Texas and hopefully California soon.

Interior-Entry    Patio

The décor and atmosphere are casual and made me feel like I was on a beach somewhere. I dig the surfboard inspired tables. Luckily, we’re having the perfect weather to enjoy their huge patio for happy hour. So add to your list of patio-weather spots to try out soon.

Poke2

We started with the Ahi Poke. It melted like butter with each bite. However, in our opinion, the green onions from the marinade and garnish seemed to overpower what should have been a fresh, simple flavor.

Fish Taco

We devoured the Famous Fish Tacos which were filled with goodies, tons of flavor and VERY tasty grilled fish. The seasonings on the Mahi Mahi and Ono are totally on point here! I get why they’re FAMOUS!  Try it on Taco Tuesday and you can buy one order (2) and get another order for free.

Grilled Ahi

A generous and buttery, seared Ahi with lemon butter is served on a bed of brown rice joined with a side of tomato and their signature coleslaw (made with coconut milk). The wasabi sauce that comes with it compliments the flavors of the Ahi very well.  (Shh! We dipped our tacos in it as well.)

Coconut Fried Shrimp

Tim, the owner, stopped by to say hello and surprised us with a basket of the Coconut Shrimp appetizer. These crunchy giants served with Thai chili pineapple sauce were the highlight of my day. He was right… they made a great dessert.

Coconut’s has several house made sauces to try to spice up your meal such as Asian Flair, South of the Border, Wasabi, Cocktail, Tartar, Thai Chili and Sriracha Aioli. They are sure to take your tacos to the next level!

There are so many other delicious options to try out. Check out their website to learn more about them and peek at the menu.

(My meal was complimentary and all thoughts and opinions are my own.)

I'm a desperate housewife, dreamer, foodie, nerd, blogger, entertainer and homecook. I love food! Yes, I take photos with my iPhone of the food I'm about to shove into my mouth whether it's at a restaurant or a homecooked meal. And yes, I share those photos on Facebook. I think people that get annoyed by that are just jealous. That is all.
