Our Harder Concepts Dine Around series continues this week with Scruffy Duffies, located in Plano’s Shop at Legacy. The festive hangout spot serves up ample brews, hosts weekly live music, offers weekly happy hour (both food and drink specials) and catering services. You can catch a variety of sports games on the TVs, play a round of pool and hang out on the covered large patio, which has its own dedicated bar.

The menu includes a mix of American and Italian food, so you can get a mix of bar snacks to larger plates. Lots of the menu items are shareable too, which makes it great during happy hour with friends. Take a look at what I got to try off the menu:

Drinks

The bar offers an extensive drinks menu, such as an array of rotating craft beers and lots of weekly drink specials. Enjoy $4 pint nights and $4 Usual Suspect beers (a handful of popular domestics) on Mondays, $3 12-oz cans on Tuesdays, $4 All Flavored Pinnacle Vodkas on Wednesdays, Extended Happy Hour from 3-10 p.m. on Thursdays, Happy Hour from 3-7 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays (live music at 9 p.m. too!) and Service Industry Sunday Funday with $4 on wells, Usual Suspects beers and Fireball.

Appetizers

There are a lot of tasty choices on the appetizers list, so with me being slightly indecisive, I ordered the sampler to try out a few different options. 🙂

With the sampler you get: Mini Calzones stuffed with warm marinara sauce, Italian sausage and pepperoni; Pigs in a Blanket, Wings (choose your sauces), Fried Mozzarella and Toasted Ravioli. This plate can easily feed 3-4 people and goes for $19. If you’re just looking to snack with friends, I would highly recommend the sampler.

Entrees

From large salads and hot sandwiches to pastas and pizzas, you can get a variety of food to pair with your drinks.

First up, I tried the Chicago Dog, a 1/4-lb beef hot dog with a poppy seed bun, topped with mustard, onions, NEON GREEN sweet relish (it’s yummy!), peppers, dill pickles, tomatoes and celery salt. The waffle fries on the side are just as excellent.

Next up came the shareable pizza, and I saw some people in the bar order the personal size, too. Choose two toppings and each additional one is 50 cents. I ordered a pepperoni pizza with mushrooms and black olives. It’s a deliciously cheesy pizza on a flat crust. On Mondays, these pizzas are half-off!

The Chicken Alfredo pasta was another good entree to try out. The dish was creamy from the rich Alfredo sauce and totally mouthwatering. The dish comes topped with grilled Italian chicken and a side of toast.
