Broadway Dallas once again delivers an incredible musical performance with “Come From Away.”

While we all remember where we were during the tragic events of September 11th, you might not know the true story of the planes grounded in Gander, Newfoundland, Canada, and the locals who welcomed the new ‘from away’ faces.

As the audience, we get to witness the week of 9/11 when thousands of plane people from around the globe found themselves together on a remote island.

This heartfelt, one-act play revisits the somber historical events of that day, while beautifully weaving in a light and hopeful storyline highlighting the power of human connection and resilience.

This story even has ties to Texas and our Dallas foodie community, including a Texan who found love during the week, some honky tonk music, and the popular Canadian donut and coffee shop, Tim Hortons, which will soon open locations in the DFW area.

Though it sounds cliché, this musical deserves an 11/10.

If you’re seeking a thought-provoking and delightful evening at the stunning Winspear Opera House, invite your loved ones, or your “Sexytary” for an early Valentine’s date and catch the show this weekend, Jan. 14-19.

Denim Miller

Denim / @denimlikethejean As a Dallas native, Denim’s favorite hobby is exploring new restaurants around town — from Thai to BBQ; Dallas offers such diversity. An added bonus is when she can enjoy a cocktail on a patio in the gorgeous weather. Her start as a foodie came from growing up with a mom who did not cook. It was just the two of them, so they split dinners at restaurants and bonded over trying (and critiquing) new yummy places. Denim has since then taught herself to cook through trial and error (and Blue Apron), but still frequents her local go-tos and get just excited to taste all of the delightful additions.
