This summer, the City of Frisco welcomed Texas pizzeria Cane Rosso. What a perfect fit for the restaurant to be located at The Star, where the Dallas Cowboys practice. If you haven’t heard, the restaurant offers a spectacular Star pizza, in honor of the Boys, only found at the Frisco location. If you’re new to the Cane Rosso brand like I was, they offer wood-fired Neapolitan pies, in addition to hot sandwiches, wholesome pastas, big salads, dessert pies, and a full bar, in a casual atmosphere. They have several locations in DFW (like Deep Ellum, White Rock, downtown Carrollton and more) – and now Frisco. Its ice cream counterpart, Cow Tipping Creamery, is located next door to this location… so you can get pizza and ice cream all in one setting!

 Welcome to Frisco, Cane Rosso!

More Cowboys decorations inside the restaurant!

A Cowboys-themed pizza oven?? You betcha!

Enjoy local draft beers and more selections from the full bar.

The Menu

Cane Rosso’s pizzas are fired in a specially built wood-fired oven from Italy. Cane Rosso also offers a selection of pastas, salads, sandwiches, and desserts. Since opening the first Deep Ellum location, Cane Rosso has been named “Best Pizza in Dallas” by D Magazine 5 years in a row (2011-2015), appeared on The Food Network’s “Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives” with host, Guy Fieri, and received numerous awards and honors.

Fun fact: Each pizza is baked in an oven set to 900 degrees, so your pizza will be ready in just 90 seconds!

The moment we’ve all been waiting for… the Star pizza! This iconic pie comes topped with ricotta, pepperoni, arugula and local tomatoes. ($17)

More pizzas await at Cane Rosso….about 20 of them actually. Chances are you’ll find a pie you’ll love here. If you’re a more simple pizza person, you can choose from several versions of a Margherita pizza, the basic Marinara, and a couple more selections. There are plenty of meat options too like the Friday Night Frankie (pepperoni, candied jalapeños, San Marzanos tomatoes, housemade mozzarella, grated Parmesan) and the Paulie Gee (hot soppressata/dry salami, caramelized onions, calabrian chiles, San Marzanos tomatoes and housemade mozzarella).

The Gus: sausage, mushrooms, San Marzanos tomatoes, housemade mozzarella

Capricciosa pizza: prosciutto cotto, mushrooms, artichokes, olives, San Marzanos tomotoes, housemade mozzarella

The fried calamari (top, $10) was crunchy and light tasting. The app came with a side of marinara. Pictured underneath is the fried artichokes – another crunchy, fried starter, and this one comes with a sweet-yet-has-a-kick chile aioli sauce. Both items are shareable for the entire table! (And I suggest you so share because the pizzas are HUGE.)

Cane Rosso offers six dessert options, aside from the ice cream shop next door, and I highly recommend the Ladybird (above, $13). It’s one of their popular dessert pizzas with vanilla bean mascarpone (inside of the crust), nutella, cookie butter, crushed speculoos cookies and powdered sugar. The tiramisu slice and the s’mores calzone sound just as appetizing… I guess I just have to go back!
