Chef Tamra Patterson, also known as Chef Tam, is testing her brilliant culinary skills against industry giant Alex Guarnaschelli and fellow chefs in an upcoming episode of Alex vs. America on the Food Network Channel Sunday, May 7.

To celebrate the upcoming competition, Chef Tam will be hosting a special Alex vs. America Watch Party at The Be Studio (1730 West Randol Mill Road, Suite 110) in Arlington from 6-8 p.m. where guests will be treated to a variety of Chef Tam’s delicious creations. Guests are asked to arrive at 6pm to mingle with Chef Tam and hear about her competition experience, and the show will kick off at 7pm.

Tickets are free, and it’s strongly recommended to RSVP in advance here.

In the episode titled ‘Alex vs. Southern Comfort,’ Chef Tam competes against two other talented chefs along with Chef Alex for a scintillating battle to be crowned the Southern Comfort Champion.

According to the Food Network, “these chefs will have to strategize what ingredients to use in round one in hopes of knocking Alex out of the competition. In round two, the comfort food celebration continues as the remaining chefs use their cooking skills to impress judges Kelsey Barnard Clarke and Adrienne Cheatham.”

This is Chef Tam’s sixth Food Network appearance. She was crowned champion on Chopped in April 2022 and was a winner of Guy’s Grocery Games and Guys Grocery Games: Burger Battle both in 2018. Chef Tam’s culinary background stems from generations of her family sharing love through food. With family at the core of her life and her food, Chef Tam understands the importance of family and community through a loss that has taken place in front of the nation.

Born and raised in Fort Worth, Chef Tam is the owner of Chef Tam’s Express [1730 West Randol Mill Road] in Arlington, Texas. The takeout-only concept serves Chef Tam’s unique blend of Southern and Cajun food styles fresh and fast with dishes like Southern Fried Chicken, Red Velvet Waffles & Chicken, New Orleans Catfish, Oxtails, Peach Cobbler Nachos, and more.

“It was unbelievable getting the chance to compete against an Iron Chef,” shares Chef Tam. “Alex [Guarnaschelli] had me nervous but not too much. I can’t wait for everyone to see the episode. All of us gave it our best shot and put our best dishes forward.”
