Long time Dallasites may know of the reopened Chelsea Corner as “The Corner Bar”, but a bartender and waiter from the original 1974 establishment have brought a classic fare with the remnants of nautical heritage back to the corner of McKinney Ave. & Monticello.

From the fish tacos to the housemade pizzas, the menu at Chelsea Corner reflects the iconic “new & old” attitude of the restaurant itself. Here’s a taste from a menu preview attended by local food writers and the warm and welcoming owners of Chelsea’s.

As soon as you bite into the “Southern Style” Deviled Eggs, mustard and hints of vinegar layer your tongue. Topped with crispy pancetta and house pickled red onion, the bites of this shareable end with a nice crunch that you almost forget to expect. Pamela’s Fish Tacos are stuffed with blackened mahi-mahi and Asian slaw and served with three unique sauces to drizzle over for a savory flavor.

An ode to the favored item at the original spot, the third course was the true craft of Chelsea’s in the form of House Made Pizzas – The Barnyard and Big Daddy’s White with Chicken. The handmade dough, fresh ricotta, oven dried Roman tomatoes and finely baked meats force you to reach for another slice.

The Best Darn Steak Sandwich is the belle of the ball, without a doubt. When you take your first bite, the Brandy butter slips from the top of the bun to underneath your fingertips and the grilled beef tenderloin, caramelized onions and manchego cheese fill your taste buds simultaneously.

To end on a sweet note, Chelsea Corner keeps the dessert so classic that even Santa couldn’t pass it up – Baked to order, warm chocolate chip cookies and milk.

As we enjoyed our Tuesday preview on the intimate, light stringed patio, the atmosphere transitioned from a small crowd passing the last sixth of their day over red wines and whiskeys and playlist music to a full deck of folk (including, post-work and post-gym happy hour goers, Boomers and GenY, long-time friends and anniversary love birds) getting lost in whatever moment they arrived at this Knox neighborhood gem for, intertwined with the rhythm of live jazz.

Chelsea Corner will soon be opening their outdoor patio that will welcome you, your friends, your family and your pets. Chelsea’s is open daily for dinner and drinks, as well as for brunch on Saturdays and Sundays starting at 10:30 a.m. You can enjoy live music every Tuesday and Thursday from 8 p.m. – 11 p.m. and live Video DJ’s every Friday and Saturday, 10 p.m. – 2 a.m.
