Snap Kitchen opened its newest location in Addison this month, and it arrived  just in time for the new year. This store makes it their fifth location in the DFW area. Now Addison residents can conveniently pick up healthy and fresh meals, especially when they’re on-the-go. You may be familiar with Snap’s four other locations around town.

The meals at Snap Kitchen are ideal for those who are carb conscious, gluten-free eaters, Paleo dieters and anyone who is looking for a healthy meal without compromising on taste.

I stopped by the new location off Belt Line Rd. and met with Daniel Magoon, registered dietitian at Snap Kitchen, to learn more about the Snap concept.

Shoppers can choose from a variety of juices, along with meals that have colored-coded packaging: green (the smallest box with the lowest amount of calories), orange (medium-sized box) and black (the largest box – ideal for those who like to consumer a lot of calories every day (all that lifting, probably) and it makes for a nice family-style meal). All the meals have a shelf life of about three to five days. The juices are made daily, and all items close to expiration (yet still good) are donated to a local food shelter.

The packaging is really easy to read. Right off the bat you’ll know what’s gluten-free, the number of calories, all ingredients, the expiration date and other useful details as you’re browsing meals.

Clockwise from left to right: gluten-free chocolate chip cookies; “devily” snap eggs with hummus instead of egg yolk; spicy chicken soup with noodles; beef stroganoff

In addition to what I sampled, a few of my favorites were:

– The Over-Easy Bison Burger: Lean meat, no bread and an over-easy egg on top (This is a special winter menu item…LTO!)

– The Mediterranean Spaghetti Squash: All my favorite toppings such as olives, feta cheese, capers and more with a Greek Vinaigrette over spaghetti and squash

– Crunchy Coconut Shrimp: A blend of delicious coconut shrimp tossed over pineapple and Thai basil rice.

But the menu doesn’t stop there. There are wraps, salads, enchiladas, chili and more chicken and beef options. There are meals for vegans and vegetarians too. Don’t forget to pick up a Snap Juice or Snap Coffee – these fresh blended drinks are full of vitamins, antioxidants and fruit.

Snap Kitchen in Addison is located at 4941 Belt Line Road.
