Greenville Restaurant reopens with new name, new owner and new menu.

(This giveaway has now ended. Congrats to Elizabeth Z. for winning!)

Sometimes you get cravings. Cravings that you know are bad for you, but must be filled anyway. Greasy, fatty, cheesy kinds of cravings. When these cravings hit, there’s really nothing you can do.

Lovers Grille

That’s where Lovers Grille comes in. The sports bar on Greenville at Lovers Lane has rewritten its menu, now featuring bar food that will please even the pickiest food snob. Burgers, sandwiches, wraps and plenty of appetizers to share, this seems like a great place to watch a game and fill your belly.

I had the opportunity to sample a little bit of everything from the new menu, and it’s hard to pick a favorite.

You’ll find a lot of tasty entrees and drinks on the new menu. What you won’t find? Wings. We talked to GM Chris Sieffert, and he spoke about how he wanted to have a bar menu without frying anything – a seemingly odd and impossible feat.

But, much to our surprise and delight, there is nothing fried on this menu. Burgers and sandwiches are paired with chips instead of fries, and the bar staple hot wings aren’t missed among the variety of appetizers available.

The queso was hearty, and a little spicy, which I thought was perfect – just how I like it. Frito Pie was flavorful and well made, without too much cheese and with a pretty tasty traditional Texas chili as a base.

The burgers are yes, greasy and fatty, but in the best way. Incredibly tasty and filling, they come with a variety of toppings and condiments. I thoroughly enjoyed the blue cheese and bacon burger, and my guest loved the saurkraut burger.

Oh yes, Chris makes his own sauces. We got to try a few of them including the Special Sauce which was a savory concoction I could see pairing well with almost any sandwich on the menu.

Overall, the new Lovers Grille is definitely worth a trip!

  1. We are always looking for a good burger, I mean come on who doesn’t love a good burger?!?! Also the fact that there isn’t fried food on the menu would appeal to some family memebers.
